The conference theme was Action/Inaction: Technologies and Partnerships.

The annual national SDG Conference Bergen was initiated by the University of Bergen and planned in dialogue with other Norwegian universities, the Ministry of Education and Research, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Following up on the inaugural 2018 conference, a national committee from the university sector in Norway was appointed to oversee the conference. SDG Bergen, a strategic initiative of the University of Bergen, acted as the day to day programming committee and secretariat for the conference.

The official hashtag for the conference was #SDGbergen20
