Social movements, environment, migration
The Social Movements, Environment and Migration research group investigates civil and political engagement and protest movements, environmental issues from a societal perspective and key aspects of migration and integration processes. We study social processes related to the relationship between humans and nature and the consequences of international migration for both individual migrants and the societies they are part of.
Main content
Key research issues
We work with topics related to environmental engagement and local, national and transnational political and civil engagement and advocacy. Furthermore, the group works with different perspectives on migration and the diverse society, by studying migration processes, migration-related inequality and exclusion, as well as different perspectives on conflicts, inclusion and participation in diverse societies. We work with both qualitative and quantitative analyses of protest and engagement, of environmental issues and of migration processes, inequality, inclusion and conflict in Europe as well as migration to and from the European continent. We also examine how environment, migration and ethnic relations are linked to social and political mobilization and change.
