1. Language course: Payment of extra grant

Did you complete a language course but did not qualify to receive the language grant from Lånekassen? 

If you wish to apply for an additional language course scholarship, for language courses either in Norway or the host country before the semester starts, you have to send an email to erasmus@uib.no and attach documentation to prove that the course is completed (a certificate, diploma or similar). The language grant only applies to language courses taking place before the semester starts due to restrictions on double funding from Erasmus. 

Deadline to send in documenation is 15. October in autumn semester and 15. April in spring semester. 

2. Green Erasmus: Payment of extra grant

Did you travel by train or bus to or from your host university? Then you can receive an additional scholarship of 2000 NOK. Send an e-mail to erasmus@uib.no after you have completed the journey and attach the receipt for the journey. Minimum 50% of the full return journey must be done by train or bus.

3. Extension of exchange period

It is usually possible to extend your exchange by one semester. The deadline to apply is December 1 (for spring semester).

If you wish to extend your stay you have to do the following: 

1: Contact your host university and student advisor at UiB to check if it is possible. 

2: Fill out a new (Online) Learning Agreement for the additional semester and send a copy to erasmus@uib.no, before December 1. 

3: Then we register the extension and send you a new grant agreement for the Erasmus scholarship that must be completed, signed and returned. 

If the extension is from spring to fall, it will be two different academic years, and therefore not always possible with an extension. The deadline in this case is June 1. It will also be necessary to rapport it twice. 

The deadline is absolute, and applications received after the deadline will not be processed.

4. Withdrawal during your exchange

Withdrawal before two months: 

Students that withdraw from their exchange before two months have passed must pay back the entire Erasmus scholarship. 

Withdrawal after two months:  

If you have stayed more than two months when you withdraw, you must only pay back the scholarship for the remainder of your exchange. 

Withdrawal due to illness: 

If you get ill or have to withdraw from your Erasmus exchange for other valid reasons, you can send an application to the Erasmus coordinator for an exemption of paying back the entire or parts of the scholarship. You must provide a medical certificate in the application. Contact erasmus@uib.no.
