How to apply

See all continuing education studies, online- and parttime studies at UiB

You will find an application link on each coursepage, for all courses that are currently open for applications.

This link lead in most cases to our application portal EvuWeb, which demands that you have a Norwegian ID-number and are able to log in.

For online studies that are open for applicants not residing in Norway, and therefore do not have a Norwegian ID-number, the course page will instead contain a link to a manual registration form.

General admission requirements of prior education and/or professional experience are described below. These are also described on each course page. Note that some courses may also have special admission requirements in addition.

Please read these terms of admission thoroughly and ensure that you upload and attach the required documentation when submitting your application.

UiB will not be able to handle your application, if any required documentation is missing.

Ranking of applicants

We have a certain number of study places on each course. As a main rule, we accept qualified applicants by the first come, first served principle, meaning in the order the applications are registered. If the course is full, you will be put on the waiting list.

For some courses there are other spesific priority criterias, for example that applicants with spesific professional work experience or from spesific branches or employers will be prioritized. Such criterias are described on the course page. If no such criterias are described, the first come, first served-principle apply.

Application deadlines and further procedure

Deadlines and application handling

For courses where first come, first served-principle apply, we will accept new applicants continiously, as long as there are availble places. Upcoming dates for next application handling will be announced on the course webpage, until the final deadline.

For courses with spesific priority criterias, there will be a fixed application deadline and all applications will be considered after this date.

You will receive an answer to your application as soon as possible, normally a few days after the given date for application handling or final application deadline described on the course page.

The outcome of your application will be sent by e-mail to the e-mail adress you registered in your application.

If your application is accepted and you are offered a study place, you will have a deadline 7-14 days to either accept or decline the offered study place. Note that the deadline might be shorter than this, if your application is handled shortly before the course starts.

Confirmation of submission

If you accept the offered study place, you will receive another e-mail conforming that you have been admitted as student. Note that you will only have access to the course in question, not to other courses or programmes at UiB.

The spesific date of deadline will be stated in the e-mail where we confirmed your admission to the course.

In cases where you are offered a study place only a few days before course start, you will still have the possibility to withdraw within 14 days, counting from the date of your acceptance of the study place.
