Hovedinnhold
The Collaboratory is currently expanding the collaborative organizational model to higher education courses. The first course will run in spring 2019. The interdisciplinary course will be organized as a “student-faculty partnership”, which brings together students and researchers in creating and running the course and, importantly, give students a larger role in shaping their own education than what is usually the case in higher education. The organizational model – which builds on experiences from the Bergen International Students' Conference in Bergen April 2018 as well as 25 years of experience with "student-led education" at Uppsala University, Sweden – aims to maximize the active participation of all course participants and mobilize interdisciplinary collaboration.
Two course coordinators will be recruited in the fall 2018, and they will plan, organize and faciliate the course together with an interdisciplinary academic committee consisting of researchers that will input from the standpoint of a range of disciplines and ensure that the course meets high academic standards. Mentors will provide organizational support and guest teachers - academics as well as practitioners - will do much of the teaching.
