Motive; Materiality; Movement: Inseparability in Interdisciplinary Music Studies and Practices
We are delighted to announce the GRS Autumn Seminar 2019 which will run from November 25th-28th 2019. The event is organized by the Grieg Research School in Interdisciplinary Music Studies, Faculty of Fine Art, Music and Design, University of Bergen.

As boundaries between the phenomenon studied in interdisciplinary music studies are negotiated and re-negotiated continuously, contemporary interdisciplinary music studies are truly fluid and expansive. The combination of disciplines of interdisciplinary music studies is also becoming more and more fluid and expansive. The multiplicity of image, sound, idea, sense and sensing lends to a writing and re-writing of those modalities appropriated in research and practice. The themes, Motive, Materiality, Movement, provide insistent consideration and re-consideration of artistic, pedagogic and therapeutic practices of research.
In this working seminar, slow-relating will re-place speed-dating, immersive listening/viewing will re-place fleeting mentions, and all considerations of consequences will be heartily embraced. The seminar will generate reflections concerning the inseparability and intersections of motive, materiality and movement enticed through the contributions of the invited speakers and presenters. Candidates will have the opportunity to present their work in the context of immersive working groups made up of research candidates, senior researchers, masters students and seminar participants. Structured in this way, the GRS Autumn Seminar creates a generative and supportive platform for learning and research development for all participants.

ECTS Credits
Ph.D. candidates can gain 3 or 5 ECTS credit points for participation in this course and have the option of presenting on the main theme of the course OR on their own research project. These presentations will receive feedback from senior researchers and peers.

CALL FOR PAPERS
We welcome abstracts, maximum of 350 words, for individual paper presentations of 25 minutes, and lecture recitals or workshops of 35 minutes.

ECTS CREDIT POINTS

Course Fee: NOK 3500*
*The fee includes participation and tea/coffee/fruit during breaks. Other meals are not covered. The course is free to staff and students from the Grieg Research School regional network.
