Anna Wessman works as the Associate Professor in Iron Age Archaeology at the University Museum in Bergen. She is also Adjunct Professor at the University of Turku, Finland. She holds a PhD in Archaeology from the University of Helsinki. Her PhD thesis dealt with death and burial during the Late Iron Age (AD 550-1150). After the thesis she has both led and worked in various multidisciplinary research projects at the University of Helsinki, focusing on burials, metal detecting and user experience research. Between 2015–2017 she was the acting lecturer in Museum studies at the University of Helsinki. Her research interests include various burial customs, avocational metal detecting and Citizen Science. She is also fascinated about Museums, Collecting, Ethics and Digital humanities.
