Silje Kristiansen

Dr. Silje Kristiansen is Associate Professor at the Centre for Climate and Energy Transformation (CET) and the Department of Information Science and Media Studies at the University of Bergen, Norway.

She is a communication scholar, focusing on the public communication of environmental, scientific, health and risk issues, as well as the public perception of related topics. She also conducts research related to environmentally sustainable behavior.

Some of Dr. Kristiansen’s recent work includes 1) migration intentions of people in Lagos, a flood prone city in Nigeria, and how it connects to risk perception, 2) how political polarization can be measured in media coverage and how US television news where politically polarized in their coverage of the Green New Deal, and 3) the mass media portrayal of animal agriculture’s impact on the climate.

Dr. Kristiansen is the Chair of the International Communication Association’s Environmental Communication division, and Associate Editor at the journal Environmental Communication. For more on Kristiansen’s research and work, visit her bio.
