The Effect of Rhythmic Release of Corticosterone on Learning and Memory

In my master's thesis, I explore the effects of rhythmic versus non-rhythmic corticosterone release on learning and memory using rodent models. The project centres on how these distinct patterns of corticosterone release affect spatial learning abilities and memory recognition, crucial cognitive functions. By conducting experiments within a controlled setting, the study assesses the impact of these hormonal release schedules on the cognitive performance of rodents, specifically through the analysis of their behaviour in the Y-maze test.

This project aims to delineate the role of corticosterone's release patterns in modulating cognitive processes. The findings aim to enhance our understanding of the neuroendocrine mechanisms underlying learning and memory. This knowledge could pave the way for innovative approaches to managing cognitive disorders linked with disrupted hormonal rhythms.
