Q & A

Q:          Do I understand correclty that the first step is to find a possible supervisor in UiB?

A:           In the announcement text for the position that you are applying for, you will find one or more names of contact persons at the bottom of the advertisement, under General information. We recommend contacting these people, to discuss your topic and research proposal. They or someone in their environment will most likely be your mentor/supervisor.

.............

Q:          What's the deadline for submitting all documentations?

A:           The deadline is the same as the application deadline for uploading all the documentation.

.............

Q:          For outgoing fellows, will there be funding to also bring your family, in the outgoing phase?

A:           There is funds for your travel. As for your family, this is negotiable, and should be discussed with the department where you are employed. Make sure to bring it up quickly after employment, when discussing your outgoing phase.

.............

Q:          Is there any tool to check if we submitted all the information correctly prior to the deadline?

A:           Not a tool, but follow the instructions given at the “guide for applicants” and “Templates” on our webpage.

.............

Q:          Is there any special consideration about the career and the productivity, which if I am correct counts 50%, that takes in consideration circumstances like birth of child and challenges like unemployment, etc?

A:           The applicants will be evaluated on their career and accomplishments. Evaluators will look at the career of each applicant as a whole and to consider non-academic work, career breaks (e.g., parental and long-term sick leave, compulsory military service, time spent for obtaining refugee status) and variations in chronological order as a potentially valuable contribution to the applicant’s profile rather than a drawback.
