Proactive or reactive management?
When climate change alters distributions of fish stocks, it is not only the biology of fish stocks that is affected: also the ownership of fish stocks is changing. This has implications for the countries that are sharing a resource.

In the article published in Natural Resource Modelling, we study competitive interactions between two countries that are sharing a fish stock. Because of environmental change (e.g., changing climate), the ownership is gradually changing from one country to another. A reactive manager only updates her policies after change has happened, whereas a proactive manager foresees the change. These scenarios can lead to quite different outcomes. Surprisingly, this distinction between passive (reactive management) and active adaptation to climate change (proactive management) is rarely made. Read the article here!
