The Head of Department has overall responsibility for HSE work at the department. The responsibility for coordinating the daily work is delegated to the Head of Administration.

HSE Safety Commitee
Safety Committee (HSE-C) will assist the department management in HSE issues and ensured progress in the systematic HSE work at the Department of Earth Science.
Safety committee members for the period 2014-2015:
- Group A: Haflidi Haflidason
- Group B: Anna Hughes
- Group C: Senior Engineer Ole Tumyr and Chief Engineer Stig Monsen
- Group D: Thea Aske Haugen deputy: Erik Aase
Safety representatives Siv Hjorth Dundas and Safety Consultant Trine Lise Stjernholm are also members of the committee.
