Hovedinnhold

When dementia and pain concur, their impact on society multiplies and asks for evidence-based, translational and transnational solutions. Presently, pain is grossly undertreated in dementia. Other unanswered questions regard the underlying brain pathology, optimal pain treatment and care and the lack of validated pain assessment tools has so far prevented major progress.

Our COST-Action TD 1005 is a multidisciplinary group of international researchers from 14 European countries, Israel and Australia, with focus on pain in dementia, palliative care, psychometric properties, laboratory pain research, clinical studies, and implementation. Since 2011, it has been the goal to improve pain recognition and management and to develop an international agreed tool to assess pain in people with dementia.

The COST-Action organizes a bi-annual conference to exchange information between clinicians and researchers. This time we will meet in Bergen, Norway, to celebrate the 7th International Congress of Pain in Dementia, with the support by the University of Bergen, Department of Global Public Health and Primary Care, Center for Elderly and Nursing Home Medicine.

Excellent speakers with high number of publications in peer-reviewed international scientific journals, and famous for their responsibility and leadership in large research projects, from US, Australia and European countries will participate.
