Global Health Priority-Setting: Beyond Cost-Effectiveness

This new book was published by Oxford University Press in January 2020 and is co-edited by BCEPS Director Ole F. Norheim (University of Bergen), Ezekiel J. Emanuel (University of Pennsylvania), and Joseph Millum (US National Institute of Health). It reflects on the ethics of priority-setting in the context of Universal Health Care and proposes new frameworks and tools for use in the allocation of health resources.

The book contains 18 chapters with contributions from ethicists, philosophers, economists, policymakers, and clinicians from around the world, including BCEPS researchers and affilliated researchers. They assess current priority-setting practices in health and address the most important ethical questions faced by decision-makers.

Public Event at the Center for Global Development in Washington

On 27 February 2020, the Center for Global Development hosted a public event on Setting Prioirities in Health: Cost-Effectiveness, Equity, and More in the Real World to explore the ethical and economic insights provided by this new book. All three co-editors took part in the event and a recorded livestream has been made available online (see below).
