BCEPS Director Ole Frithjof Norheim joins expert committee advising Norway's future efforts in the field of global health.

BCEPS Director Ole Frithjof Norheim has been selected to join a national expert committee advising Norway's future efforts in the field of global health.

The committee consists of eleven members, among them also Lumbwe Chola, Associate Professor in the Department of Health Management and Health Economics at the University of Olso and Ghana NCD Project Lead at BCEPS.

Norway has played a leading role in global health for decades, contributing to historic progress. The expert committee's mandate is to outline the greatest challenges and opportunities in global health up to 2050, detailing how Norway can best contribute internationally, both financially and politically. The committee will present a report at the end of October 2024.

The committee was set up by representatives of Norwegian relief and development organisations and think tanks:

  • Anne Bergh, Secretary General, Red Cross Norway (Røde Kors)
  • Dagfinn Høybråten, Secretary General, Norwegian Church Aid (Kirkens Nødhjelp)
  • Henriette Westhrin, Secretary General, Save the Children Norway (Redd Barna)
  • Maria Greenberg Bergheim, Secretary General, UNICEF Norway 
  • Kristin Clemet, Head of the think tank Civita 
  • Trygve Svensson, Head of the think tank Tankesmien Agenda 
  • Eirik Mofoss, Head of the think tank Langsikt

The expert committee consists of:

  • Camilla Stoltenberg, CEO of the research institute NORCE (Committee Chair)
  • Ole Frithjof Norheim, Professor and Director of BCEPS, UiB
  • Lumbwe Chola, Associate Professor, UiO and Ghana NCD Project Lead, BCEPS
  • Bent Høie, state administrator in Rogaland 
  • John-Arne Røttingen, CEO of the Wellcome Trust 
  • Karoline M. Linde, CEO of Laerdal Global Health 
  • Anne-Marie Helland, Director of International Development at PwC 
  • Usman A. Mushtaq, physician and entrepreneur 
  • Amanda Hylland Spjældnes, medical student and Head of Norwegian People's Aid Solidarity Youth (Norsk Folkehjelp Solidaritetsungdom)
  • Ottar Mæstad, Director of the Development Learning Lab (DLL) at CMI 
  • Trygve Ottersen, Acting Assistant Director of the Directorate for Medical Products (DMP) and Associate Professor in the Department of Community Medicine and Global Health, UiO
