Personal info

I am Daniel Onyango, a teacher educator who is currently serving the Govt of Uganda under the MoES as a Lecturer at NTC Muni, Arua. I hold a Bachelor of Teacher Education (First Class Honours) of Kyambogo University,3013. I also hold a Diploma in Teacher Education of Kyambogo University, 2008 as well as a Grade III Teacher Certificate of ITEK, 2000. I was appointed in 2002 and confirmed in the teaching service in 2005 as an Education Assistant II by Kitgum District Local Govt where I served as a primary school classroom teacher from 2003 to January 2017. I have also served as PLE Examiner of Mathematics since 2005.

I am currently a student of Makerere University, pursuing a Masters in Education-Foundations of Education (MEFE), specializing in Comparative Education as a discipline. My research topic is "The Teachers’ factors affecting the implementation of Continuous Assessment in the competence-based lower secondary School curriculum, in selected schools in Arua city."

The purpose of this mixed methods research design is to examine and analyse teachers’ challenges in implementing, Continuous Assessment.

Objectives of the study

  1. To explore the challenges faced by teachers in setting Continuous Assessment tasks in the secondary schools.
  2. To inquire and understand the experiences of secondary school teachers in scoring Continuous Assessment tests.
  3. To examine how secondary school teachers keep and manage Continuous Assessment results.

 

The research questions

The study will be guided by the following questions:

  1. What challenges are faced by teachers in setting Continuous Assessment tasks in the secondary schools?
  2. What are the experiences of secondary school teachers in scoring Continuous Assessment?
  3. How do secondary school teachers keep and manage Continuous Assessment results?
