Apply for CET Accelerator funding

Funding for research project development biannually. Funds for Ideas and Communication and Co-funding are open-ended.

Main content

Are you developing a research proposal? Or do you have an idea for a project? CET Accelerator is CET's funding program, aimed at stimulating exchanges of ideas, communication and developing research projects with climate and energy transformation.

CET Affiliates can apply for three types of Accelerator funding:

The deadline for Seed Funding is 15 March 2024. Ideas and communication and Co-funding are open-ended.

Seed funding

  • Stimulate project development within CET priority areas
  • Who can apply: CET Affiliates with completed PhD or equivalent
  • Funding per project: NOK 50.000 - 200.000
  • Deadline: 15 March 2024

Ideas and communication

  • Stimulate idea exchange, communication and stakeholder engagement within CET priority areas
  • Who can apply: All CET Affiliates
  • Funding per project: Up to NOK 100.000
  • Deadline: Open-ended

Co-funding

  • Stimulate project development within CET priority areas
  • Who can apply: CET Affiliates with completed PhD or equivalent
  • Funding per project: Up to NOK 1 million
  • Deadline: Open-ended
     

Additional information:

CET Accelerator - Seed funds

The purpose is to stimulate research project development within CET priority areas.

In this call, proposals are accepted for seed funds to develop research proposals for national or international calls for proposals. Proposals must thematically be within one or more priority areas of the centre.

  • Total funding available: NOK 450.000 per year
  • Funding per project: NOK 50.000-200.000
  • How to apply: Online form + 2-page project description (template below) and CV
  • Deadline: Two times per year, spring and autumn. 

General guidelines

  • Funded activities must lead to the submission of one or more research proposals to national or international funding agencies. If applying for improving/strengthening a previously unsuccessful proposal, it must be clear how the proposal will be strengthened.
  • Funding can be used to organize seminars/workshops, travels, research assistants or other relevant activities as justified in the proposal. Applicants are encouraged to plan for hosting activities at the CET centre when appropriate (e.g. workshops and seminars).
  • CET will normally engage as a partner in the research proposal and will provide support in the project development and implementation phase as deemed useful.
  • The amount applied for to CET must normally be between NOK 50.000 and 200.000.

Assessment criteria

Proposals will be assessed based on their quality, and their potential to lead to successful research proposals within CET priority areas. Projects that are interdisciplinary and include international partners will be given priority. Proposals that stimulate new collaborations are encouraged.

Who can apply

CET affiliates (see guidelines) qualified to lead the research proposal, i.e. completed PhD or equivalent criterion from funder.

The application

  • Online application form with all mandatory fields filled in
  • Project description written in English of maximum 2 pages + references (please use template provided below)
  • CV of project leader (maximum 2 pages)

In addition, if applying for improving/strengthening a previously unsuccessful proposal:

  • Previously submitted proposal
  • Reviewer comments from the previous submission

Reporting

A financial report and a brief narrative report (1/2 - 1 page) must be submitted to CET within 1 month after end of the activity, clearly demonstrating how funding has been spent. A condition for receiving funding is that the proposed research proposal(s) is submitted.

Next call

Calls are twice annually, in the spring and autumn. An email will be sent out when it is possible to apply for seed funding. 

CET Accelerator - Ideas & communication

The purpose to stimulate idea exchange, communication and stakeholder engagement within CET priority areas.

In this call, proposals are accepted to support interdisciplinary idea exchange, communication of research findings and/or engagement with stakeholders. Proposals must thematically be within one or more priority areas of the centre.

  • Total funding available: NOK 150.000 per year
  • Funding per project: Maximum NOK 80.000
  • How to apply: Online form + 2-page project description (template below) and CV
  • Deadline: Open-ended

Examples of activities that can be supported

  • Workshops and seminars for interdisciplinary idea exchange
  • Producing knowledge summaries, policy briefs and reports
  • Providing research-based inputs to white papers and hearings
  • Engagement with public and private decision-makers, societal organizations and society at large
  • Training of researchers to engage in public debate
  • Presentation of research findings at scientific conferences and meetings

Proposals will be assessed based on their quality and their potential to strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration and communication within CET priority areas.

Funding decision

Decisions about funding will be communicated normally within 2 weeks after submission.

Reporting

A financial report and a brief narrative report (1/2 - 1 page) must be submitted to CET within 1 month after end of the activity, clearly demonstrating how funding has been spent.

CET Accelerator - Co-funding

The purpose to stimulate research project development within CET priority areas.

CET may engage as a co-funding partner of select proposals, following initial discussions with the project manager. Proposals must thematically be within one or more priority areas of the centre.

  • Total funding available: NOK 1-2 million per year
  • Funding per project: Up to NOK 1 million
  • How to apply: Contact CET
  • Deadline: Open-ended

General guidelines

  • Funding must be used as co-funding of a research proposal to a national or international funding agency. If applying for improving / strengthening a previously unsuccessful proposal, it must be clear how the proposal will be strengthened.
  • Funding can preferrably be used towards co-funding of recruitment positions, or other activities as justified in the proposal. Applicants are encouraged to plan for hosting activities at the CET centre when appropriate (e.g. co-supervision or physical work space for recruitment positions, workshops and seminars). 
  • CET will engage as a formal partner in the research proposal, and will provide support in the project development and implementation phase as deemed useful.
  • The amount applied for to CET can normally be up to NOK 1 mill. and can not exceed 15% of the total amount of the research proposal.
