The Centre for Deep Sea Research is in the Department of Earth Science at the University of Bergen and is also affiliated with the Department of Biological Sciences. The Centre comprises around 15 scientists in professor, associate professor and researcher positions, 5 technical and administrative staff, 5-10 post-doctoral researchers, 20 PhD students and around 15 masters students.

Together, our researchers cover a wide range of scientific expertise: We are geophysicists, petrologists, geochemists, geobiologists, paleontologists, microbiologists, bioinformaticians, marine biologists, and taxonomists. It is the breadth of experience that is our core strength. This collaboration enables us to perform ground-breaking research that expands our knowledge of the deep sea and its resources.
