Many factors contribute to the gender disparities in academia. Productivity differences, however, cannot account for them. Instead, research suggests that women receive less recognition than men for equivalent accomplishments. Just why they receive less attention has been a question Marc J. Lerchenmueller has been focusing on.

Marc Lerchenmueller is an Assistant Professor for Technological Innovation and Management Science at the University of Mannheim, Germany, and a Research Fellow at the Yale School of Management, USA.

Marc Lerchenmueller has a varied background. He worked in the health care practice of the Boston Consulting Group in New York City and founded two biotechnology companies as an academic. He holds his doctorate at WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management and Master degrees in Public Health from Yale and Financial Economics from Oxford.

His research has been published in The BMJ, Circulation, PLoS One, and Research Policy. His work has also been featured in the Harvard Business Review and international media, like The New York Times and The Economist.
