PhD fellow Arleen Aune defended her PhD thesis ‘Cardiac organ damage in systemic hypertension: Impact of gender, etiology and comorbidities’ 15.03.24. Opponents were professor Maria Lorenza Muiesan from the University of Brescia, Italy and professor Michel Burnier, university of Lausanne, Switzerland. The evaluation committee was chaired by professor Hans-Peter Marti, UiB. The main finding was that high blood pressure irrespective of etiology leads to more cardiac damage in women than men. This was not caused by lower drug adherence in women.
