PhD fellow Lisa M. D. Grymyr defended her doctoral thesis
Another PhD fellow completed her thesis at Center for Research on Cardiac Disease in Women. Lisa Grymyr received a PhD scholarship from Helse Vest. Her thesis was entitled: Left ventricular mechanics and oxygen demand in patients with severe obesity undergoing Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery

Lisa Grymyr’s thesis is based on data from 123 patients with morbid obesity that underwent bariatric surgery at Haugesund Hospital in Norway. The work was done in close long-term collaboration with associate Bjørn G. Nedrebø and consultant in cardiology Saied Nadirpour in Haugesund who managed follow-up visits of the patients at the local hospital, including echocardiography. All echocardiographic studies were analyses at the echocardiography core laboratory at UiB.
Main supervisor has been associate professor Dana Cramariuc and co-supervisor professor Eva Gerdts. Professor Maryam Kavousi, Rotterdam Medical Center, the Netherlands, acted as first opponent and associate professor Tatiana Kuznetsova, Universitetet i Leuven, Belgia as second opponent. The committee was chaired by professor Eystein S. Husebye from UiB.
