The celebration was sky-high when the Ministry of Education announced today that KODEM (Coordinated Online Panels for Research on Democracy and Governance) has been awarded 58,595,000 NOK. KODEM is a new, national infrastructure for data collection covering the entire core of the structure of democratic governance. Their core task is to facilitate and conduct digital data collection in these panels for social science and interdisciplinary projects.

"This is a joyful day for research on democracy," said project leader Elisabeth Ivarsflaten to colleagues and friends who gathered at DIGSSCORE’s premises in Nygårshøyden to celebrate the approval of their application to the Research Council.

She continued: "In the digital age of disinformation and declining trust in institutions and politicians, it is more important than ever to invest in knowledge about democracy. A thousand thanks to the Ministry of Education and the Research Council for making it possible for us to further develop and strengthen the work with KODEM. Let us together seize this unique opportunity to create a power center for democracy research in Norway."

Dean Jan Erik Askildsen, Deputy Dean Siri Gloppen, and Director Kristine Koldsrud, all from the Faculty of Social Sciences, were also present to extend their congratulations.
