In the evaluation report the following is written about the Department of Informatics:
”Several groups perform cutting-edge research and enjoy strong international recognition and visibility. In general, the department strives for scientific excellence in its selected research areas. Several groups emphasize theory-oriented basic research in informatics, which is almost unique and thus a national strength within Norway. The department members publish actively in high-quality international conferences and journals. They have also been very successful in acquiring external funding, mostly from the RCN but also from the EU as well as other public and private sources. Presently, more than 40% of the department’s total expenditures are covered by external grants. Remarkably, the number of PhD students and postdoctoral researchers has increased over the last years”.
An important prerequisite for continued high quality research are good students. So if you are clever and have an interest in theory-oriented computer science , we recommend you to come study with us!
