Two new professors appointed

Dean Karl Harald Søvig is pleased with the Faculty’s new professors:

– Professor is our highest academic rank, and the title is awarded to researchers who demonstrate a substantial and comprehensive academic production, he says.

China exchange

Professor Bjørnar Borvik has particularly worked on questions concerning freedom of speech, defamation, hate speech, privacy and personality rights.

Moreover, Borvik is a pivotal figure in the creation of Norwegian China Law Centre.

Borvik is currently teaching law at two Chinese universities; Renmin University of China Law School in Beijing and Law School of Shandong University in Qingdao.

Authorship as academic contribution

Gert Johan Kjelby is the principal investigator of «Politi- og påtalerett», a project funded by Bergen researchfoundation, Faculty of Law and the National Police Directorate. 

The evaluation committee that granted Kjelby the professorship emphasized his academic contribution as an author of the textbook «Påtalerett». 

– On behalf of myself and of my colleagues, who put a lot of effort in to the publication, I am pleased by the committee’s evaluation, Kjelby says.
