About UiB Learning Arena
The UiB Learning Arena is an attractive venue for the entire UiB community, with facilities for continuing education, conferences, seminars, and internal training offerings.
Main content
The UiB Learning Arena will provide premises and facilities for competence building, service development and lifelong learning for both internal and external target groups. The arena will strengthen UiB's external relations and facilitate better cross-collaboration. The following activities will therefore be prioritized:
- Continuing education - teaching, courses and seminars
- Conferences/seminars and workshops organized by faculties or institutes
- Service development activities and project support
- Internal courses and training related to administrative services
Rooms and facilities
The UiB Learning Arena consists of a large hall named Storsalen and a total of 8 different courses and support rooms of varying sizes. In addition, the learning arena consists of large mingling areas and social zones with coffee stations, as well as toilets and changing rooms for visiting course and conference participants. There are also guest workplaces and a digital/partially staffed reception.
Adjacent to the Great Hall, you will also find a catering kitchen and a private lift from the Smauet café on the 1st floor. Read more about the cafe and catering options.
Both Storsalen and the various course rooms are equipped with flexible furniture, with several possible setups: Round table/group table, conference or cinema setup.
The main hall can accommodate up to 200 people, the course rooms have a capacity of 8-74 people, while the smallest support rooms are suitable for 2-3 people. The capacity in the various rooms varies with the choice of setup.

Services and Staffing
Courses and seminars can in many cases be booked and carried out as a self-service event, both in Storsalen and in the course rooms. For other types of events, it may be desirable to book certain additional services, such as hosting or technical assistance.

Arena coordinator Linn-Karen Lyngbø and event technical coordinator Cem Arapkirlioglu will be responsible for the daily coordination and operation of the arena. Certain types of events will also be staffed with their own arena hosts.
