Researchers boycott shakes the publishing giant
A boycott of the publishing house Elsevier shows that the researchers have power over the publishers if they are able to organise themselves.

The boycott, with homepage http://www.thecostofknowledge.com/ was initiated by amongst others the Fields medalists Timothy Gowers and Terrence Tao.
A background for this action was the unreasonable pricing policy of the Elsevier publishing house, as well as Elseviers initial support of the controversial american law proposal "Reserarch Works Act", which would severely restrict the researchers possibilities of giving access to their own publications. Elsevier has since retracted their support to this act, and is now moving also in the question of subscription pricing.
