Prof. Robert Kittel, head of the Animal Physiology Department at the Institute of Biology, Leipzig University, will present his talk: "Plasticity and Diversity of the Presynaptic Active Zone".

Professor Kittel's research group studies molecular mechanisms of neuronal communication with a particular focus on presynaptic plasticity in Drosophila melanogaster. To this end, they engage neuro- and optogenetic approaches, electrophysiology, behavioural readouts, and super-resolution light microscopy.
