Main content

My laboratory seeks to understand the strategies that marine invertebrates use to survive within a stressful and changing world. A major focus has been investigating the physiological regulation of copepod dormancy, the metabolic adaptations of lipid-storing copepods and the responses of copepods to changing environmental conditions. A second major focus (which I will focus on for this presentation) has been on characterizing responses of cnidarians, particularly the starlet sea anemone Nematostella vectensis, to environmental signals and stressors. This has included investigations of thermal tolerance, responses to petroleum-based pollutants, and circadian regulation.
