Open Group Leader positions at the Centre
Apply before December 15 to join our team! We offer an attractive work environment to address fundamental questions in molecular, cellular and organismal biology.
Main content
The Michael Sars Centre is seeking outstanding candidates addressing fundamental questions in molecular, cellular and organismal biology using marine/aquatic organisms. Research projects at the Centre typically cover a broad range of academic disciplines including cellular and molecular biology, developmental biology, stem cells and regeneration, neurobiology, physiology and reproductive biology, genomics and evolution. Research projects leveraging quantitative, genomics and/or systems approaches to tackle innovative and impactful problems in marine life sciences, from molecular to population scales and/or at the interface between the organism and the environment are encouraged.
The Centre currently has 6 research groups, each with its own group leader, and a total of approximately 12 researchers, 11 postdoctoral fellows, 9 PhD fellows, 20 technical and 6 administrative employees. The Centre provides excellent internal resources for the research (postdocs, PhD students, technicians, lab space and project-specific facilities). Operations at the Centre are supported by the University of Bergen and by a growing portfolio of externally funded projects.
Successful candidates for the position will be offered a contract as research scientist with function as group leader, subject to evaluation within the first 6-year period for an additional 4 years, according to the EMBL-model. An additional 4 years is dependent on performance and available funding at the time of evaluation.
