In July-August 2018 the Federation of American Societies For Experimental Biolology (FASEB) arranged a scientific meeting on the topic of folic acid, vitamin B12 and one-carbon metabolism. These topics are central to several research projects in the nutritional research environment at the University of Bergen. Thus, three representatives from Centre for Nutrition traveled to Canada to attend the meeting and present their data.

PhD candidate Anthea Van Parys presented data from her project, investigating the association between choline intake (primarily found in meat, eggs and grain products), and the risk of acute myocardial infarction. PhD candidate Vegard Lysne presented his data on the association between dietary fat intake, and blood concentrations of biomarkers related to one-carbon metabolism and B-vitamin status. Master student Ingvild Marienborg presented the findings from her thesis on the association between dietary protein intake and blood concentration of biomarkers related to one-carbon metabolism, B-vitamin status and other physiological parameters such as blood glucose regulation.
