I want to contribute to building a robust understanding of stress-related and depressive disorders. For this purpose, I am pursuing an academic career in neuroscience with a strong translational focus. In addition, to facilitate a dialogue between natural and social sciences, I am actively participating in the organization of public events where neuroscience research is disseminated to different academic sectors, as well as the non-academic public.

Currently, I am a PhD student at the University of Bergen under the main supervision of associate professor Olga Therese Ousdal, and co-supervision of professor Petri Kursula and associate professor Leif Oltedal. Our project aims to unravel the role of brain myelination in major depressive disorder (MDD), especially in response to electroconvulsive therapy (ECT, one of the most effective treatments for treatment-resistant depression). Taking a translational approach, we will combine human neuroimaging data with animal research and structural biology to test our hypotheses. With the support of an international network of collaborators, this project may enrich our understanding of the largely unknown mechanism of action of ECT.
