Health research – REC
With regards to health related research the Health Research Act and the Research Ethics Act require pre-approval by the Regional Committees for Medical and Health Research Ethics (REC).
Main content
If a research project is defined as health research (as defined in §2 in the Health Research Act), researchers are obliged to send a notification to REC.
REC carries out an assessment as to whether research is conducted in an acceptable manner. This entails the consideration of benefit versus risk and whether data protection is assured.
