PhD defense - Saruar Alam

New PhD using deep learning to analyse multiparametric MRI images to grade and track tumour cell spreading in the brain.

Main content

The Brain Tumour Immunology and Therapy Group at the Department of Biomedicine announces the public defence of the first PhD in Artificial Intelligence/deep learning at the Medical Faculty by Saruar Alam; “Multiparametric brain MRI and deep learning models applied to segmentation and prediction in patients with glioma”. This research marks an important step in integrating AI with medical science and imaging, pointing towards the forthcoming AI Center at the UiB Medical Faculty. The project addresses a knowledge gap in the use of computational analysis of MRI images for brain tumour grading and localisation. By advancing this technology, the research offers the potential to extract image derived information related to tumour localisation and characterisation, useful for precision grading and localisation. This will ultimately benefit patient care.
