Main content

Recent advances in medical imaging methods e.g. magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT), positron emission tomography (PET) and ultrasound (US) have enabled a refined characterization of morphologic changes observed in various abdominal diseases. Furthermore, novel functional imaging methods may provide information regarding the function of the abdominal organs and of the tumors arising in these organs. This information may prove highly relevant for treatment and prognosis of abdominal diseases.
