Small and medium enterprises are vital to the European economy. Yet, their justice needs and the justice gaps they face are seldom discussed.

In a workshop on SMEs’ justice needs, a group of selected experts joined the Civil Procedure Research Group to explore the justice challenges SMEs face, to ponder how they are similar to and different from the justice gaps other groups experience.
The participants presented selected mechanisms that enhance access to justice for SMEs in their jurisdictions, such as equating micro/small businesses with consumers, special purpose vehicles for cartel claims dispute boards, pre-action protocols and assessors.
The workshop is part of the Primary Dispute Resolution project, which is funded by the Research Council of Norway. You can learn more about the project via the link below.
