Project description

The deep biosphere is teeming with life, but we know little about what drives its major microbial and geochemical processes. Throughout the past decade, the now former Centre for GeoBiology (CGB) gathered vast quantities of data, largely from the Arctic Mid-Ocean Ridge in the Northern Atlantic. To analyse these data, I will make them publicly available in an online database and furthermore build an appropriate R package to analyse them statistically. This will hopefully enable me to quantify the processes and mechanistic couplings between the microbes and their environment in the deep biosphere
