Virtual PhD course a success
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, BSRS 2020 was organized as a virtual research school.

Main content
In total more than 130 PhD candidates participated. One of the courses was “Media for democracy” led by Hallvard Moe and Jan Fredrik Hovden, who were very content with the result.
- Although we missed hosting the participants from all across the world here in Bergen, the virtual PhD course was a great success. Over 20 participants took part in Zoom meetings and discussed the pre-recorded lectures given by our international collaborators. Becoming acquainted with the intriguing work that our participants are engaged in inspired us to continue researching media use and the public, Moe says.
The course was a collaboration between the research group Audiences and Mediated Life (AMLife) at Roskilde University.
- The course represented the first in what will become a yearly line of events with our collaborators at Roskilde. In 2021, the plan is to offer another PhD course, this time in Roskilde - if the pandemic allows for it. Information about this course will be published later this autumn.
The next BSRS is already scheduled. Bergen Media Use Research Group will, however, not be a part of BSRS 2021.
