RNASeq in IgA nephropathy progressors and non progressors

A project to establish a platform for omics-related analyses of kidney biopsies of IgA nephropathy.

Main content

This project aims to investigate formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) kidney biopsies from patients with assumed benign IgA nephropathy utilizing mRNA sequencing in conjunction with immunohistochemistry of complement factors (e.g. C3, C4, MAC).
Patients with minimal change nephropathy and membranous nephropathy can be included as comparators. Biopsies will be obtained from the Norwegian Kidney Biopsy Registry (NKBR) and our respective transcriptomic/IHC results will be correlated with histological IgAN classification, clinical & biochemical findings, such as renal outcome, kidney function (eGFR) and proteinuria. The group members of our group had a previous experience with the latter. Key parameters will be also investigated in serum samples of IgAN patients.
