Gums and Joints is a collaborative research project supported by the European Union’s FP7 Grant agreement. Gums and Joints are made up by 12 international groups form all around Europe. The project is coordinated by Piotr Mydel, who is in charge of the PTM-group here at the Broegelmann Research Laboratory.

This consortium of research groups are investigating the mounting evidence that suggest that there is a causative link between periodontal disease and rheumatoid arthritis, as well as between periodontitis and cardiovascular disease.
