The annual Bergen Summer Research School (BSRS) is an interdisciplinary venue for PhD students who want to explore some of the greatest challenges of our time. Due to the COVID pandemic and the persisting restrictions on international travel, BSRS 2022 will be organised as a virtual research school.

Scientific Director for BSRS 2022 is Professor Haldis Haukanes, Department of Health Promotion and Development, UiB.
This summer, six parallel disciplinary courses will focus on key global challenges, including climate change and mobility; governance and inequality; economic experiments in developing countries; higher education and the arts; food security; and gender, justice and environmental crises.
In addition, there wil be special interdisciplinary sessions connecting the participants of the six PhD-courses around systems thinking and creative interdisciplinary problem-solving and project management.
Together with cross-cutting keynotes and virtual social events, the courses will help 100 PhD students develop skills to create actionable knowledge.

Bergen Summer Research School is a joint effort by the Western Norway University of Applied Sciences, Chr. Michelsen Institute, NHH Norwegian School of Economics, NORCE Norwegian Research Centre AS, and the University of Bergen.
