New Director at the Faculty of Social Sciences at UiB
Kirstine Kolsrud has been appointed as the new director of Faculty of Social Sciences (UiB). «I look forward to leading the wonderful, competent administration at the faculty,» she says.

«I am very pleased to welcome Kirstine Kolsrud as the faculty director of the Faculty of Social Sciences. Kirstine has a solid and relevant background and experience that will serve our faculty well in the future,» says Dean Jan Erik Askildsen.
Excited about the work
Kolsrud comes from the position of assistant faculty director and has been serving as director general since August. She has previously also been the head of studies at the faculty.
«I am very happy that I am given this trusted position, and I am looking forward to leading the wonderful, competent administration at the faculty. Already knowing them well and understanding how skilled and committed they are made it easy to apply for the position,» says Kolsrud.
She looks forward to getting even more acquanted to the academic staff at the seven departments:
- Department of Comparative Politics
- Department of Government
- Department of Sociology
- Department of Social Anthropology
- Department of Geography
- Department of Economics
- Department of Information Science and Media Studies.
«A highly skilled leader»
«I believe in the ideas of the university, and I hope that we can figure out together how the faculty administration can further support academic activities,» Kolsrud says.
Kolsrud holds a degree in social economics from UiB. Before coming to UiB, she worked many years at the Norwegian Centre for Research Data, now named SIKT.
