Advancements in technology, including the development of digital technologies, the growth of algorithmic machine learning and artificial intelligence, and the circulation of disinformation in social media, necessitate a reevaluation of credibility, trust, and ethos. In the recently published book “Ethos, Technology, and AI in Contemporary Society», Aaron Hess and Jens E. Kjeldsen has gather top researchers to do this by exploring the rhetorical concept of ethos, which is the perceived character of a speaker. Contributors theorize how ethos is enabled, constrained, and constituted through new communication technologies.

In this week's Academin Morning Coffee, we talk to professor Jens E. Kjeldsen from the Department of Information Science and Media Studies about his new book on ethos, technology and AI in contemporary society.
