PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The objective of the work is to study and exemplify how the material property functions can
be equipped with extended continuity properties (from C2 to C4) and point to how this can be
useful in ray modelling of different seismic attributes.
The work will consists of the following main tasks
1) Deriving and implementing a method to obtain ray trajectories and ray quantities corresponding to material property functions represented by means of C4 continuity. A perturbation approach will be used for this purpose. The new method will be used for generation of the examples to be described and analyzed.
2) Perform modelling based on standard (C2) property functions, however after a smoothing
operation utilizing C4 continuity.
3) Evaluate advantages and disadvantages related to
using C4 continuity in the modelling or in a preprocessing step.
