The first day (23 January) was dedicated to presentations from partners and collaborators of EPOS-N, and was open for all interested parties. The second day involved more technical discussions and various internal meetings. The project’s External Advisory Board (EAB) had their third annual meeting to evaluate the progress of the EPOS-N project, and the Solid Earth Science Committee (SESC) and Project Management Board (PMB) also had their first meetings of the year.

EPOS ICS-TCS Workshop
UiB is among the partner institutions in the European EPOS (European Plate Observing System) Implementation Phase project, funded by the European Council’s Horizon2020 Program. EPOS is a planned research infrastructure for European solid Earth science that will integrate existing research infrastructures to enable innovative and multidisciplinary research. UiB as partner institution is the leader of a work package dealing with the integration of Thematic Core Services (TCS) in Earth Sciences with the Integrated Core Services (ICS) of EPOS. As a part of this activity, the recent ICS-TCS interaction workshop was arranged by the EPOS UiB-Team.
The EPOS ICS-TCS Testing & Preoperational Workshop was held from 12-15 February 2019 at the Scandic Ørnen Hotel in Bergen. Attending the workshop were the EPOS Thematic Core Services (TCS) work package leaders, IT-experts and domain scientists, as well as representatives from the Integrated Core Services (ICS) team. This is the first of six planned workshops, out of which three are ICS-TCS workshops, two are User Feedback Group workshops, and the last will be an External Testing Workshop.
The goal of these workshops is to further improve the coordination between TCS IT requirements, expectations and offerings, and the ICS development plan. The plan is to develop specific use cases to test the ICS functionality, and thereby getting feedback on potential improvements and additions. More information about the workshops can be found here.
