What is EPOS-N?
EPOS-Norway (EPOS-N) is the Norwegian Node of the European Plate Observing System (EPOS) ERIC – a distributed research infrastructure for Solid Earth Science in Europe.
What does EPOS-N do?
The goal of EPOS-Norway is to gather all Solid Earth Science data in Norway and to make this data available and accessible to the whole geoscience community and public. In order to do so, an advanced e-infrastructure in solid Earth science EPOS-N Portal has been created. This platform provides access as well as the possibility to visualise, combine, process and download large amounts of geological and geophysical data. The purpose of this portal is to initiate and facilitate closer interaction between scientists from different fields within Solid Earth Science. Another goal of the infrastructure is to improve the monitoring capacity in the Arctic, including northern Norway and the Arctic islands. EPOS-N has therefore conducted a range of scientific surveys and installations, with special focus in Arctic regions, providing large amounts of new data. All new datasets will be included in the ever-growing database of the EPOS-N Portal, where students and young researchers may access them freely, for research and educational purposes.

Time and funding
EPOS-N project is supported by the Research Council of Norway (RCN) for five years (2016–2020) and continues until 2025. A new application will be submitted for EPOS-N Phase-II in November 2020.
