About the institution
Chr. Michelsens Institutt (CMI) is an independent, research institute based in Bergen, Norway with approximately 110 employees from over 25 different countries. We use English as our working language; and our main output is development research. Our vision is research for a just and equal world, as we wish to address global challenges by providing research-based knowledge that both inspires and shapes policy and practice.
We aim to be a inclusive and empathic workplace, where we collaborate together, are curious and bold and where we treat each other with respect. The focus for our upcoming years is to produce high quality research, with an impact for societal change and in equal partnerships with researchers based in the global south.
Internship at CMI
In collaboration with NHH, SNF and UiB, CMI hosts the Development Learning Lab (DLL). DLL will be accepting 1-2 interns from the UiB “Politics and Governance Challenge” masters programme. You can read more about DLL here: About us – DLL – Development Learning Lab
The aim of DLL is to collaborate with development practitioners to enhance learning and improve the results of development cooperation. This is done through three approaches:
- We apply scientific methods to measure and evaluate results of research to aim to understand the reasons for success and failure,
- we revisit existing research, assessing its relevance and reliability and aim to make research results accessible for practical use and
- we bring together researchers, policymakers and practitioners in thematic Learning Areas to share their knowledge and experience with each other.
The intern will be given a work place in CMI’s student hall, and be followed up by a CMI researcher in the DLL centre.
