Personal info

I am Kanono Ronald, Mathematics Education CABUTE scholarship awardee, 2022. Currently, I am pursuing a master of Mathematics education at Makerere University. I hold a bachelor's Degree in Teacher Education from Kyambogo University, Diploma and certificate in Primary education, and a UCE certificate.

I am a dedicated and enthusiastic math educator with 15 years of experience, teaching both primary and teacher training institutions, and also with vast skills in student engagement, creating a supportive learning environment, conducting clinical and collaborative supervision, communicating effectively, and strong organizational and time management skills.

RESEARCH TOPIC:

Tutors’ Knowledge and the Use of GeoGebra in teaching cartesian graphs in primary teachers’ Colleges in Southwestern Uganda.

RESEARCH OBJECTIVES

1. To determine the relationship between tutors' technological knowledge and the use of GeoGebra in teaching cartesian graphs in primary teachers’ colleges in southwestern Uganda.

2. To establish the relationship between tutors' pedagogical knowledge and the use of GeoGebra in teaching cartesian graphs in primary teachers’ colleges in southwestern Uganda.

3. To examine the relationship between tutors' knowledge and the use of GeoGebra in teaching Cartesian graphs in primary teachers’ colleges in Southwestern Uganda.

METHODOLOGY

The study will employ both quantitative and qualitative research approaches. However, the study will lean much toward the quantitative research paradigm, since many of the methods will be borrowed from the positivism paradigm. The study will be guided by the TPACK theory model because its components align well with the independent variable of the study. The study will also be conducted in 5 core primary teachers’ colleges in southwestern Uganda and will involve mathematics tutors, student teachers, and college principals as study respondents. The sampling procedure will be cluster sampling for colleges, and random sampling for teacher trainees. The study will employ both descriptive cross-sectional surveys to collect data at once and quasi-experiments, where pretests and post tests will be conducted to measures the changes in the dependent variable before and after the treatment, is introduced. Data management will be statistical starting with data processing and ending with analysis. Ethical considerations will be given priority during the study.
