The Workshop

The Bergen Cognition and Learning Group has been conducting research on prison education in Norway in collaboration with the Education Department of the County Governor’s Office over the last 20 years. Their extensive research efforts have resulted in 29 research reports (mostly written in Norwegian, but three in English) available online, along with 27 research articles in peer-reviewed journals, two books, and seven book chapters (see below for bibliography). These findings have significantly influenced policy-making and the development of prison education in Norway over the last two decades.

The workshop will delve into the research results of the research project and discuss the evolution of policies, practices, challenges, and future needs of prison education. Each presentation will last 10-15 minutes, with an additional 15 minutes allocated for Q&A and discussions following the presentations.
