Center for Research on Women's Health - Driv

Hovedinnhold

On Tuesday 21st May, 2024 the new center for Research in Women's Health officially opened. The center is a collaboration between the Medical faculty at UoB, Trond Mohn Research Foundation, Haukeland University Hospital and Grieg Foundation.

Fertility, pregnancy and childbirth are unique central areas of women's health. Pregnancy and childbirth are a burden and an important "stress test". Falling fertility has been highlighted as a social problem.

On a worldwide basis, complications in pregnancy, birth defects and infections are conditions that cause long-term health challenges for women. The research group aims to find new knowledge about women's health from a life-course perspective, through studies of fertility, pregnancy, fetal life and childbirth. This research sheds light on how conditions before and during conception, during pregnancy and in the period around birth can have consequences for a woman's health and the next generation. Lifestyle issues are connected to conception and high-risk pregnancies (including premature birth, birth defects, and infections). We want to identify targeted and personalized interventions and give advice that can strengthen and improve both society's and women's self-care.
