Earth Science Women's Network workshop
Report from Earth Science Women's Network (ESWN) workshop on networking and communication skills.
Hovedinnhold
In the start of June 2012, Mirjam Glessmer at Geophysical Institute, participated at the Earth Science Women's Network (ESWN) workshop on networking and communication skills in Madison, Wisconsin.
Mirjam, together with colleagues from Germany and the U.S. summarize the highlights of the workshop on networking and communication skills in the journal Eos. Participants at the workshop were given a broader and more complete understanding of the importance of networks and networking skills for women in the Earth sciences. The authors also invite all Earth science women to join the women-only webbased community, ESWN.
As a direct outcome of the Madison workshop, Mirjam successfully applied for funding from UiB to host two workshops in Bergen:
The first workshop will be May 6th-8th 2013 on writing "opinion editorials", where facilitators from the OpEd project will help running the workshop. The target audience are women at all levels in their careers in the Earth Sciences.
The second workshop will be a networking workshop modeled after the workshop in Madison, where a funding decision from the Elsevier foundation is awaited in December.
